Gambrill State Park resulted from public-spirted conservationists buying a tract of land on Cotoctin Mountain and donating it to the City of Frederick for a municipal mountain park. It was named to honor James H. Gambrill, Jr., a Frederick resident and leading advocate of the conservation of natural resources. The park has three native stone overlooks, all on the 1600-foot summit of High Knob. For more information we recommend visiting this link. |
