Great Falls :: McLean VA
Great Falls of the Potomac River consists of cascading rapids and 20 foot waterfalls. In less than a mile, the elevation of the river drops 76 feet. The width narrows from almost 1000 feet at the top of the falls to between 60 and 100 feet at Mather Gorge below the falls. The Great Falls boast the most spectacular and steepest fall line rapids of any eastern river.
